The World Youth Day which falls on 15th July, 2017 has been designated by the United Nations to generate greater awareness on the importance of skilled youthful population through technical and vocational education and the development of those skills for self-reliance, improved employability as well as enhanced global competitiveness.

The Fashion Design and Textiles Studies Department under the Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology has launched its annual Fashion Week event, organized on Monday, 24th April, 2017. The final year students of both Higher National Diploma as well as the Bachelor of Technology students spearheaded the event this year.
The Health and Safety Office of Kumasi Technical University has organized a six-day accident prevention and fire fighting training program from the 30th January through to 23rd February, 2017 for vendors and staff in the University. The program was organized based on recommendations from 2016 accidents, incidents and near misses investigations reports.
The conversion of most polytechnics in Ghana into Technical Universities has necessitated a review of the policies used by these institutions. In view of this, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has organised a three-day retreat in which Management, Deans, Directors and other related Senior Members attended. The brainstorming exercise which took place at the plush Miklin Hotel from 10th March to 12th March, 2017 was aimed at reviewing the existing policies to make them reflect the new status as a Technical University.
The Department of Chemical Engineering under the auspices of the Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with the School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences of the University of Ghana, has organized a day’s seminar at the New Great Hall. A delegation from SIEMENS Technology South Africa has paid a working visit to KsTU to explore possible areas of collaboration. As part of its corporate social responsibility, SIEMENS Technology South Africa aims at collaborating with the University to churn out well trained engineers. According to them, they are interested in supporting projects in the Gas and the Power sectors.
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) on Thursday, 16th February, 2017 received a delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Ghana which was led by the Ambassador Miss Sun Baihung.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana, one of the foremost engineering professional bodies in the country held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) as well as an induction ceremony and end of year conference in November, 2016. The ceremony which took place in Accra was very eventful.
