Established in 2012, the Directorate of Works and Physical Development provides professional direction in all construction and related projects of the University. The Directorate comprises of the following main Sections:
Physical Development
Estate and Municipal Services

Vision

To  become  the  central  point  of  excellence  for  all  construction  development activities of the University.

Objective

To develop, modernize and maintain building facilities and infrastructure of the University that meet relevant standards.


Physical Development Section

The Physical Development Section comprises the following sections:

  • Architecture (Physical Planning
  • Civil/Construction and services Engineering
  • Land Surveying
  • Quantity Surveying
Objectives

The objectives of the section includes:

  • Provision of facilities that  promote the most appropriate environment for teaching and learning
  • Ensuring the construction of state-of-the-art facilities that comply with statutory regulations, as far as possible
  • Involvement in the entire construction development circle

Estates and Municipal Services Section

The Estates and Municipal Services Section is structured into the following sections:

  • Estate/Facilities Management
  • Municipal Services (Environmental Sanitation Section) 
  • Maintenance
Objective

The Estates and Municipal Services Department’s main objective is to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for the university community for Academic , residential, social and other purposes in accordance with the mission statement of the institution.
In achievement of the set objective, the section aims at the following:

  • Effective  day-to-day  maintenance  services  of  properties,  facilities  and equipment's being used to promote academic work in the University.
  • Value for money services to members of the University Community.
  • Provide relevant information to the University community concerning the use of its facilities.
  • Ensuring  compliance  with  legal  and  regulatory  instruments  concerning acquisition, development, utilization, maintenance and disposal of assets
  • User friendly facilities to all staff, especially the physically challenged.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
