A momentous occasion unfolded at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) when the Graduate School organised an oral thesis presentation as a mandatory requirement for students pursuing a Master's degree at KsTU. Mr. Alikalifa Sanogo, an MTech student in water and environmental engineering, opened the event by presenting his thesis, "Impact of Climate Change on Hydrological Events: A Case Study of Bamako (Mali)." Mr. Sanogo persuasively delved into the topic while being supervised by Engr. Dr. Prince Appiah Owusu, astounded the panel with his thorough observations and results.

Next, Mr. Nasser Dia presented his research on "Adsorption of Antibiotics Using Locally Produced Microplastics," a topic of utmost relevance and significance. Dr. David Azanu, his dedicated supervisor, guided him throughout his academic journey, resulting in an exceptional presentation that left a lasting impact on the examiners.

Finally, Mr. Yussif Mahamud took center stage with his thesis on the "Comparative Analysis of Waste-to-Energy Adaptation Systems Using Asokore Mampong Municipality as a Case Study." Under the supervision of Dr. Prince Appiah Owusu, Mr. Mahamud displayed remarkable work, despite facing challenging questions that he skillfully addressed, demonstrating a profound understanding of his research.

The Postgraduate oral thesis defense program witnessed esteemed supervisors and examiners serving on the panel. The students were evaluated based on their ownership of the work, display of knowledge, and contribution to existing knowledge, as well as their presentation skills, which were adjudged as some of the best seen in previous years.

The panel of examiners for the three presentations included internal and external experts such as Dr. Anthony Osei-Twumasi, Prof. Kwaku Amaning Adjei, Dr. David Adu-Poku, Prof. Sampson Kofi Kyei, Dr. Edem Bensah, and Dr. Mizpah A.D. Rockson. Their insightful evaluations enriched the overall academic experience and provided invaluable feedback to the students.

This remarkable achievement marks a historic milestone, as these three students become the first to present their oral thesis defense this year from the esteemed Graduate School at KsTU. Their groundbreaking research and dedication to academic excellence have set a high standard for future candidates to follow.

In his address, the Dean of Graduate School, Prof. Roland S. Kabange, who also served as the Chairman of the programme, expressed his excitement about the continual improvement in the works of postgraduate students each year. He urged students to harness their potential and strive for excellence as they pursue graduate studies.

The programme took place at the JICA Conference Centre. Kumasi Technical University congratulates these exceptional students and extends best wishes to all future candidates from the Graduate School as they prepare to make their mark in academia and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields.
