KsTU Develops a Satellite Campus in Collaboration with the Chiefs and People of Juansa.

A delegation from Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) led by the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Ing. Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw paid a courtesy call on the Juansa Traditional Council to follow up on an ongoing project of setting up a satellite campus of the University at Juansa in the Asante Akim North Municipality.

Prof. Osei -Wusu Achaw informed the Chiefs of Juansa that the University Council has approved the request and that KsTU was ready to work with the stakeholders to set up the Satellite Campus at Juansa. The VC said, it is through the efforts of Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North, Hon. Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi and the CEO of Ghana Gas Dr. Benjamin K. D. Asante that have led to the intended establishment of an extension campus of KsTU at Juansa in the Asante Akim. He also assured the traditional leaders that plans were far advanced to get an institutional accreditation as early as possible so that the University can begin its operations in the Municipality.

The Committee set up to propose a strategy for the smooth takeoff of the Campus comprised some members of the Traditional Council, the Office of the MP and the University. Issues to be addressed by the Committee included smooth conclusion of all land documentation for the project, proposing the required additional infrastructure to fill the infrastructural gaps identified by the Committee; estimating the cost of administrative operations including transportation, stationery, computers among other things, that are required for the full running of the Campus.

Hon. Appiah-Kubi on his part, expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and was of the firm belief that the contractor will complete the project earlier than scheduled. He also underscored the immense benefits the Campus could bring to the Juansa Municipality. He mentioned that apart from creating direct jobs for the citizens of Juansa and its environs, the presence of the Campus alone could soar up business activities for food vendors, retail shop operators, hostel facility operators and many more.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his appreciation for the support of Nananom from the Juansa Traditional Area for releasing land for such a project.
