KsTU Strengthens Global Academic Ties with Florida Gulf Coast University

Kumasi Technical University has signed an agreement for academic cooperation with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in a move to strengthen international academic collaboration and creating broader opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers of both institutions.

The agreement establishes a strategic framework for cooperation between the two universities in the areas of academic exchange, research, and institutional development. The partnership is expected to enhance global learning experiences while deepening educational and cultural ties between Ghana and the United States.

Under the terms of the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in the exchange of students for study and research programmes, exchange of professors, scholars, and administrators through mutual academic visits, as well as the sharing of educational and research information and publications. The partnership will also facilitate the implementation of cooperative education and joint research initiatives between the two universities.

The agreement was formally signed by representatives of both institutions. The Vice- Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Dwomoh signed on behalf of Kumasi Technical University with the Registrar, Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye serving as witness to the signing.

On behalf of Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees, the agreement was signed by Dr. Eileen DeLuca, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff. Witnessing the signing for the University was Dr. Michael McDonald, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for International Programmes and Chief International Officer.

Speaking after the signing, Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, expressed confidence that the collaboration would create significant academic and cultural exchange opportunities for students and staff of both institutions while strengthening research cooperation and institutional growth.

The agreement is expected to open new avenues for academic mobility, international exposure, and collaborative research projects that will benefit both universities and contribute to the advancement of higher education and global knowledge exchange.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
