Kumasi Technical University Appoints Dr. Jenkins Atarisigna Asaah as Registrar
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has appointed Dr. Jenkins Atarisigna Asaah as the substantive Registrar of the University, ushering in a new era of administrative leadership anchored on excellence, innovation, and institutional transformation.
Dr. Jenkins Atarisigna Asaah is a distinguished and accomplished higher education administrator with almost two decades of progressive experience in university administration. He brings to the office a rich blend of administrative expertise, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to institutional excellence. Dr. Asaah joined Kumasi Technical University (formerly Kumasi Polytechnic) in 2006 as an Assistant Polytechnic Secretary, now designated as Assistant Registrar.
Before his appointment, he gained valuable experience in the NGO sector as Programmes Officer. Through dedication and a strong commitment to hard work, he steadily advanced through the ranks, attaining the position of Deputy Registrar in 2015.
Prior to assuming his current role, Dr. Asaah headed the Academic Affairs Directorate, Human Resource Directorate, and the General Administration Directorate, where he significantly enhanced the efficiency and growth of these Directorates. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional competence in academic administration, human resource management, university governance, policy implementation, and institutional development.
Over the years, he has been instrumental in shaping administrative systems and institutional reforms at the University. Notably, he spearheaded the development of the Standard Operating Manual for the Registrar’s Office, introduced the Performance Appraisal System, championed the establishment of the Human Resource Development Unit, and initiated the Faculty Registrar system to strengthen administrative coordination at the faculty level.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he collaborated with the ICT Directorate to ensure uninterrupted delivery of academic and administrative services through virtual platforms and online systems. He also contributed significantly in streamlining student registration and matriculation processes and helped achieve record-breaking student admissions during the 2020/2021 academic year.
A respected scholar with international exposure, Dr. Asaah holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management Science and Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, China (2019), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, United Kingdom (2004), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (2000), after completing both the Ordinary Level (1992) and the Advanced Level (1994) at Kumasi High School. He also holds a Foundation Certificate in Conflict Management and Resolution from the Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies, Accra.
He is a Chartered Professional Administrator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants. Dr. Asaah is recognised for his scholarly contributions in the areas of organisational culture, leadership, innovation, and higher education management. He has published extensively in reputable peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings and has served as an external reviewer for academic journals.
Also, he has served as a resource person for many training programmes and an external assessor for staff promotions within the Technical Universities. His outstanding contributions to academia and university administration have earned him several prestigious honours, including multiple Academic Achievement Awards from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and the Best MBA Dissertation Award from Glasgow Caledonian University.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Asaah is admired for his humility, integrity, diligence, and people-centred leadership style. He is passionate about administrative innovation, staff development, mentorship, and the advancement of technical university education in Ghana and beyond.
He is a devout Christian and married to Reverend Mrs. Beatrice Lardy Asaah. They have been blessed with three children (Abigail Asaah, Julia Asaah and Jenkins Asaah). As Registrar, Dr. Jenkins Atarisigna Asaah is expected to provide dynamic administrative leadership and support the continued growth, transformation, and global visibility of Kumasi Technical University.
