KsTU Poised for Take-off: Reviewing Policies

The conversion of most polytechnics in Ghana into Technical Universities has necessitated a review of the policies used by these institutions. In view of this, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has organised a three-day retreat in which Management, Deans, Directors and other related Senior Members attended.  The brainstorming exercise which took place at the plush Miklin Hotel from 10th March to 12th March, 2017 was aimed at reviewing the existing policies to make them reflect the new status as a Technical University.

In his opening address, the Interim Vice Chancellor Prof. Asiamah Yeboah thanked all participants of the retreat and charged them to continue working hard in order to ensure that comprehensive documents were developed. He was full of optimism that members were going to do their best for a successful retreat. He was of the view that after the policies have been reviewed and new ones added, the full complement of such policies would shape the operations and functioning of the Institution and further catapult it to the desired height.

Among the policies reviewed included Workplace HIV/AIDS Policy, Quality Assurance Policy, Project Report Writing Policy, Library Policy and Industrial Attachment Policy among others. At the end of the retreat, participants unanimously agreed that the it had had been successful as all policies had been reviewed. They further urged Management to frequently organize such off-campus events as such activities sharpen the thinking of the Senior Members. The Interim Vice Chancellor was full of praise for members for their enthusiasm and participation throughout the exercise.
