Graduate School Holds Orientation for Postgraduate Students
The Graduate School of Kumasi Technical University has recently held an orientation programme for newly admitted graduate students at the JICA Centre conference hall.
In his welcome address, the Dean of Graduate School, Professor Roland Kabange, on behalf of the Management of the University of Ghana, congratulated the students on their admission to pursue postgraduate studies. He indicated that orientation programmes at the University are compulsory and that the programme allows students to reduce stress due to the uncertainties ahead, find solutions to challenges they face, and provide them with the needed information which would enable them to function effectively in the university. He advised students to abide by the rules and regulations of the University and work diligently to achieve their goals.
At the event, several speakers were invited to deliver speeches on various aspects of academic life. These speakers included various Deans of the faculties, who highlighted their respective faculties' offerings, research areas, and opportunities for students.
The Vice-Dean of the School, Dr. Kwame Owusu Sarpong took students through regulations governing graduate studies especially issues concerning registration, processes for extension, and deferment of studentship or interruption of study. He urged students to familiarize themselves with the graduate handbook which could be accessed online.
The orientation programme was also an opportunity for the new students to interact with each other and establish relationships that could last throughout their academic journey. Additionally, they were given practical advice on how to successfully navigate their academic programmes, as well as the resources available to them.
The event ended with a question-and-answer session where the concerns of the students were addressed.
