Confucius Institute at KNUST Explores Partnership with Kumasi Technical University for New Chinese Teaching Centre

The Confucius Institute at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (CI, KNUST) recently paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, to discuss the potential establishment of a learning centre at KsTU.
The visiting team from CI, KNUST, led by Prof. Daniel Y.A. Duah (Ghanaian Director), Prof. Zibi SU (Chinese Director), and Prof. Zhou Guiping (Deputy Chinese Director), met with Prof. Dwomoh and his team to introduce the institute and explore collaboration opportunities.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Christian Narh Opata, a senior lecturer at KsTU and the Chinese Coordinator, as well as Prof. Sarfo Mensah, the Director of International Affairs. The discussion focused on the potential benefits of a learning center at KsTU, including enhanced Chinese language instruction and cultural exchange.
Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, expressed his optimism about the collaboration and emphasised the University's commitment to providing students with globally competitive skills. He highlighted the existing Chinese language programme at KsTU, which offers comprehensive instruction in both spoken and written Chinese. The programme, which involves online sessions with Chinese partners, has been bolstered by local guidance from Dr. Christian Narh Opata, further strengthening language learning at the University.
The meeting was marked by fruitful discussions on the establishment of a Confucius Institute-affiliated Teaching Centre at KsTU, which would enable even more students to access Chinese language instruction and cultural exchange opportunities. The initiative is expected to pave the way for stronger ties between the two institutions, fostering educational growth and mutual understanding between Ghana and China.
As Kumasi Technical University continues to develop its international partnerships, the potential establishment of this Teaching Centre marks a new chapter in its global education strategy, creating exciting opportunities for students and staff.
