Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) recently hosted a delegation from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Poland, marking a significant milestone in the Institution’s growing international partnership. Prof. Dr. Marta Mendel, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at SGGW, and Dr. Ing. Ptach visited KsTU from 2nd February, 2025 to Monday, 10th February, 2025 to evaluate the KsTU-SGGW collaborative achievements and also develop future strategies for deepening the already existing ties between the two universities.

The delegation was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, and members of the University Management. During the meetings, both institutions reviewed progress made under the existing programmes, including the Erasmus+ Mobility initiative, which facilitates faculty and student exchanges. Notably, the collaboration has also enabled KsTU doctoral students to pursue advanced training at SGGW, fostering academic and research excellence.

A highlight of the discussions was the development of a joint study programme in Environmental Engineering, set to award double degrees to graduates. This initiative, funded under Poland’s Katamaran Programme by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), underscores the commitment of both universities to addressing global environmental challenges through innovative education.

Additionally, KsTU and SGGW are collaborating on a new Erasmus+ Capacity Building project aimed at enhancing the expertise of Ghanaian universities in Environmental Engineering. This project seeks to strengthen institutional capacities, curriculum development, and research infrastructure, aligning with KsTU’s vision to become a leader in sustainable technological solutions.

The meetings were chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dwomoh, who emphasised the value of global partnerships in advancing KsTU’s academic mission. Also present was Prof. Sarfo Mensah, Director of the International Affairs and Institutional Linkages (IAIL) Office, who highlighted the role of internationalisation in driving institutional growth.

Prof. Mendel commended KsTU’s leadership for their proactive engagement, stating, “Our shared goals in education, research, and sustainability create a strong foundation for lasting impact.” Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to expanding staff and students exchanges, joint research ventures, and community-focused projects.
