Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) is experiencing unprecedented growth and innovation under the visionary leadership of its Chancellor, Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor. Since his appointment, Dr. Addo-Kufuor has been instrumental in driving numerous initiatives that align with the University's mandate of providing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to produce skilled manpower for the industry and reduce graduate unemployment.

One of the standout initiatives is the establishment of the Addo-Kufuor Prize for Best Student in ICT (Computer Science). This award, personally funded by Dr. Addo-Kufuor with additional support from Kwaku Oteng, CEO of Angel Group of Companies, aims to encourage innovation and excellence in IT education. The award has already motivated students to push the boundaries of technological innovation, positioning KsTU as a leader in IT education.

Dr. Addo-Kufuor has also leveraged on his influence to forge valuable partnerships that provide hands-on training opportunities for students of KsTU. A notable example is the collaboration with Agyaba Jewellery, a leading jewellery company in the Ashanti region. This partnership has kick-started the establishment of a jewellery workshop at the University's Adako-Jachie campus which is intended to offer students with practical experience and prepare them for the job market. The drawings for a jewellery showroom and workshop, meticulously prepared by the University's Directorate of Works and Physical Development are already presented to Agyaba Jewellery's CEO for the necessary action.

To further enhance practical training, KsTU has signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent industries. One such MoU with Niche Cocoa allows students to utilize the company's facilities for their practical training. This exposure does not only enhance their skills but also, opens employment opportunities within the cocoa industry's value chain. Additionally, similar agreements with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the Ghana Manufacturers’ Association have facilitated industrial placements for a significant number of students. Through the efforts of the Chancellor and collaboration with the President of Ghana Manufacturers’ Association, many KsTU students have already secured internships and National Service placements in high-profile companies.

In another significant development, KsTU has signed an MoU with the Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) to construct a lube bay at its Amakom campus. This facility will serve as a practical training centre for the automotive engineering students, offering them real-world experience in vehicle servicing. This initiative underscores Dr. Addo-Kufuor's commitment to providing practical, industry-relevant training to KsTU students.

Dr. Addo-Kufuor's leadership continues to propel KsTU towards greater heights, fostering excellence in education and creating valuable opportunities for its students. His efforts are not only transforming the University but also, having a profound impact on Ghana's education landscape. With every initiative, Dr. Addo-Kufuor continues to shape KsTU into a beacon of learning, innovation and transformation, impacting Ghana and beyond.

As KsTU continues to thrive under Dr. Addo-Kufuor's leadership, the future looks promising for its students and the wider community. His dedication to the holistic development of students and his strategic partnerships with industry leaders are setting a new standard for technical and vocational education in Ghana.
