KsTU Signs MoU with Kumasi Technical Institute for Academic Collaboration
In a move aimed at fostering academic collaboration and enhancing technical education, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has formalised a partnership with Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU, formally signed between the two institutions sets the stage for a comprehensive collaboration to equip students and master artisans lacking certification with the requisite knowledge and practical skills demanded by the modern job market.
This initiative seeks to leverage the strengths of both institutions to provide practical training for artisans and students in skill areas, as well as equipping master artisans without certification.
A delegation from Kumasi Technical Institute, led by the Principal, paid a courtesy call on Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, the Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University to solidify the partnership. During the meeting, the importance of the collaboration was underscored with both parties expressing their commitment to the advancement of technical education in the region.
Mr. Gabriel Osei, the Principal of Kumasi Technical Institute, emphasized the significance of the partnership, highlighting KTI's role in supporting KsTU in training the next generation of labour force. He praised the quality of technical education offered by KsTU, stating that affiliating with the University aligns with KTI's mission to equip African youth with industrial skills and knowledge to thrive on the competitive job market.
Prof. Kofi Agyarko Ababio, Director of the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE) at KsTU, highlighted that the MoU, which commenced last year, has undergone revisions for enhanced effectiveness. Notably, both parties have committed to providing practical training for artisans and students, along with facilitating access to facilities and fostering collaborative projects.
In his response, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh commended the initiative and assured the delegation of KsTU's commitment to implementing the MoU. He emphasised the need for tangible outcomes and meaningful engagements stressing the importance of collaboration beyond mere formalities.
This initiative aims to provide opportunities for students to further their education and contribute to the advancement of technical education in the region.
