The Department of Oil and Gas Engineering at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has received a significant boost with the official handover of a state-of-the-art laboratory facility. The new laboratory, constructed by the Directorate of Works and Physical Development, was officially handed over to the University during a brief ceremony attended by the Vice-Chancellor and the faculty members.

Dr. Prince Appiah Owusu, the Head of the Oil and Gas Engineering Department, expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for their unflinching support. "This new facility will not only provide our students with hands-on training but will also save the Department the costs previously incurred from renting external facilities or moving off-campus for practical sessions," he remarked.

Previously, the Department faced challenges in delivering practical training due to lack of adequate facilities. The new laboratory is equipped with the needed equipment and it is spacious enough to accommodate more students for practical work.

Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh commended the Works Directorate for their excellent work and thanked the Procurement Directorate for their efficient handling of the project. Upon receiving the keys, he remarked that "This laboratory is a significant boost for both the Department and its students. It will greatly enhance the practical learning experience, allowing our students to gain essential skills within the University environment."

The laboratory includes a spacious practical area for students and a dedicated office space for lecturers. This comprehensive infrastructure is expected to create an optimal learning environment for both students and staff. This development is a positive one that will substantially elevate the quality of education and research in the Oil and Gas Engineering Department, and it will further solidify Kumasi Technical University's reputation for excellence in technical and vocational training.
