KsTU Engineering Lecturers Inducted into the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana, one of the foremost engineering professional bodies in the country held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) as well as an induction ceremony and end of year conference in November, 2016. The ceremony which took place in Accra was very eventful.

KsTU continues to set the pace as the leading Technical University as eleven (11) of its lecturers were inducted into the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana. They are Engr. Prof. Mike Agbesi Acheampong (Chemical Engineering), Engr. Dr. Robert Dery Nagre (Chemical Engineering), Engr. Johannes Ami (Chemical Engineering), Engr. Philip Ansah (Chemical Engineering), Engr. Dr. Isaac Kwasi Frimpong (Chemical Engineering) and Engr. Lawrence Nti (Chemical Engineering). The rest are Engr. Johannex Rushman Fefeh (Electrical/Electronics Engineering), Engr. Kingsley Akom (Electrical/Electronics Engineering), Engr. Bernard Adjei-Frimpong (Electrical/Electronics Engineering), Engr. Mamudu Hamidu (Electrical/Electronics Engineering) as well as Engr. Dr. Prince Appiah Owusu (Civil Engineering).

The IET (Ghana) has been in existence for over 30 years and has gone through series of changes before its current status. It started as Ghana Institution of Technician Engineers. It later became the Institution of Incorporated Engineers and it is currently known as the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana. It derives its membership mainly from the Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Marine, Automobile, and the Aviation industries among others. The Institution mainly ensures that professional standards of its members are enhanced. It also strives to ensure that there is advancement as well as adherence to Local Technical Practices to maintain the internationally accepted levels.

The immediate past President of IET (Ghana), Rev. Dr. Engr. Eric Ankrah, in his address advocated for the implementation of the many designs on building technology and development presented to the Engineering Council. He also urged government and other stakeholders to establish appropriate and adequate measures to regulate the importation of building materials.
