In a proactive move to prioritise the mental well-being of its workforce, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) through its Guidance and Counselling Directorate organised a therapeutic seminar for members of staff. The seminar was held at the SRC Conference Hall and it sought to raise awareness about mental health and equip participants with practical strategies to manage emotional and professional challenges effectively.
The seminar was anchored by Mr. Wisdom Kwame Kudjordji, a Clinical Psychologist at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, who also served as the guest speaker for the event. His presentations focused on two key areas: “Achieving Work-Life Balance and Managing Burnout” as well as “Effective Conflict Resolution and Mastering Difficult Conversations.”
Addressing the participants, Mr. Kudjordji highlighted the growing need for professionals to prioritise self-care in the midst of demanding workloads and emotional pressures. He shared actionable insights on identifying signs of burnout, setting boundaries, and improving communication to prevent conflicts and manage difficult conversations within the workplace.

The session was highly interactive with participants engaging actively during the Q&A sessions that followed each presentation. Staff members posed questions, shared real-life experiences, and received guidance on best practices for maintaining emotional balance and resolving conflicts constructively.
According to Mad. Felicia Ofosuaa Tettey, the Deputy Director of Guidance and Counselling Directorate, the seminar formed part of a broader initiative by the University to foster a supportive work environment and ensure that the mental and emotional well-being of its staff remains a top priority.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in such an insightful programme and called for similar sessions to be held regularly to sustain the momentum of mental health education on campus.
