The Faculty of Health Sciences at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has taken a significant step in enhancing teaching, learning, and research by procuring eight precision electronic balances for its pharmaceutical laboratory. Subsequently, the Faculty has donated the laboratory equipment to further improve practical training for students.

The equipment, valued at GH₵62,400, comprises eight electronic balances, each costing GH₵7,800. The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Samuel N. Osei Djarbeng, officially presented the equipment to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, during a brief ceremony on 14th February, 2025 at the Main Campus of KsTU.

During the presentation, Prof. Djarbeng emphasised that the initiative was driven by the Faculty’s commitment to providing students with hands-on experience using modern laboratory tools. He highlighted the collaborative effort between the Faculty and the student leadership in securing the equipment, ensuring that students receive quality training in line with global best practices.

The Vice-Chancellor, after inspecting the equipment, expressed his appreciation to the Faculty for its proactive approach to resource mobilisation. He commended the leadership of Prof. Djarbeng and the Faculty for going beyond reliance on the University-provided resources, stating that "The University has many responsibilities including equipping the laboratories. It is commendable that the Faculty took the initiative to address this crucial need."

Prof. Dwomoh further assured the management of the faculty for its commitment to improving laboratory facilities, announcing that all the three laboratories in the Faculty of Health Sciences would be renovated by the end of the academic year to provide a more conducive environment for practical learning and research.

Prof. Djarbeng, in response, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and management of the University for their continuous support and commitment to equipping the Faculty. He reiterated that the new equipment would significantly enhance the practical learning experience of students and contribute to the Faculty’s vision of academic excellence in health sciences.
