KsTU Receives Valuable Equipment Donation from MoTAC and World Bank to Enhance Vocational Training
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MoTAC) in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Development Project (GTDP) supported by the World Bank has provided Kumasi Technical University with equipment worth GHȻ 224,455.00 to enhance hospitality training for its students.
The Hotel Catering and Institutional Management Department of KsTU was chosen among four technical universities to benefit from the program. The equipment donated included commercial blenders, cake mixers, microwaves, dining table sets, deep fryers, fridges, and desktop computers, among others.
Dr. (Mrs) Vida Commey, the Head of the Department of HCIM, received the equipment on behalf of the University in Accra and presented it to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Ing. Prof. Osei Wusu-Achaw and his Management team.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed his appreciation for the timely intervention by MoTAC, GTDP, and the World Bank, stating that the equipment would enable KsTU to train more students effectively and efficiently. The equipment donation will enhance the technical and vocational training capability of the university.

Dr. (Mrs) Vida Commey, the Head of the Department of HCIM, KsTU, also expressed her satisfaction with the quality and quantity of equipment presented and stated that it would enable the university to train more students effectively and efficiently.
The donation of equipment by MoTAC, GTDP, and the World Bank is a significant step towards improving the hospitality sector in Ghana. The support provided to the Department of Hotel Catering and Institutional Management at KsTU will enable the university to provide world-class training to its students and contribute to the development of the hospitality sector in the country.
Aside from the equipment donation, there will also be a workshop at KsTU on May 15, 2023, to boost the training capabilities of the HCIM department, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the overall academic and research activities of the university.
The Ghana Tourism Development Project (GTDP) is a significant initiative by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MoTAC) to grow the hospitality sector and create job opportunities for the youth in the country. The support of the World Bank further demonstrates the commitment of the international community to the development of the hospitality sector in Ghana. With such initiatives, the future looks bright for the hospitality sector and the country as a whole.
