KsTU Hosts Delegation from Rizhao Polytechnic, China

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) recently welcomed a delegation from Rizhao Polytechnic (RZPT), China, to discuss the construction plan for the upcoming "Future African College" and other collaborative initiatives. The meeting, held at the University's Council Chamber, included the University Management, concerned Deans and Heads of Departments.

The delegation from Rizhao Polytechnic was led by Mr. Xu Xiquan, Vice President of RZPT, accompanied by Mr. Lu Zhaofeng, Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Yang Zhigang, Deputy Director of the Department of Architectural Engineering and Mr. Zhang Zilong. The purpose of their visit was to strengthen the ongoing partnership between KsTU and RZPT, which is focused on establishing the Future African College, a dedicated hub for research and innovation.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the construction plans and the development of a robust curriculum for the Future African College. The collaboration aims to make the college a center of excellence for higher learning, catering to the needs of students across continent. 

Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, the Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University, expressed his satisfaction with the visit. He highlighted the importance of the project, noting that it represents a significant step toward enhancing educational and research opportunities for students. "This partnership marks a new chapter in our relationship with Rizhao Polytechnic, and we are excited about the potential benefits this collaboration will bring to our students and faculty," Professor Dwomoh stated.

In addition to the discussions, the delegation had the opportunity to tour key facilities at the main campus of KsTU, including a visit to the AVIC Lab located at the Adako Jachie campus. The tour provided an insight into the state-of-the-art resources available at the university and demonstrated KsTU's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

The delegation also explored the rich cultural heritage of Kumasi with a cultural tour of the Manhyia Palace and the Kumasi Cultural Centre. These visits offered the delegation a glimpse into the historical and cultural significance of the region, further strengthening the bond between the two institutions.

Currently, there are 27 students who have been awarded scholarships and are specialising in Construction Engineering at Rizhao Polytechnic. Further, 30 awardees are at Weifang Vocational College specialising in Mechanical Engineering. This scholarship program is a testament to the strong partnership between the two institutions and highlights the commitment to providing students with global exposure and high-quality education.

The collaboration between Kumasi Technical University and Rizhao Polytechnic continues to progress, with both institutions dedicated to creating a brighter future for students through education, research, and cultural exchange.
