Campus Update: No Student Expelled Over Fee Payment Delay

In response to recent inaccurate media reports, Kumasi Technical University would like to clarify that no students have been sacked due to delayed fee payment. The University management stresses that over two thousand students have not been expelled. Instead, students who hadn't registered for the Second Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year were offered the option to defer their programs.

The University, in its effort to ensure all students registered, extended registration deadlines multiple times. Initially set for May 29, 2023, the deadline was extended to June 5th, then to July 9th, 2023, and finally, upon the request of the Students' Representative Council (SRC), to July 28th, 2023. However, despite these extensions, some students still didn't register, resulting in the decision to conclude registration on August 7th, 2023.

Contrary to media claims, there is no tension on campus. More than 11,000 students who successfully registered are currently engaged in their examinations without issues. The University assures that the academic board's decision to advise non-registered students to defer their programs was based on non-registration, not fee payment.
