The Graduate Students’ Association of Kumasi Technical University (GRASAG- KsTU) has officially sworn in a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the Association for the next administration period, following a prolonged electoral dispute that delayed the Association’s elections and transition process.
The hand-over and swearing-in ceremony was held at the EEE Conference Hall on 18th May 2026 and it marked a significant moment in the Association’s leadership transition and brought together graduate students and members of the outgoing and incoming administrations.
The newly sworn-in executives include Mr Joseph Oppong Boateng as President, Mr John Owusu as Treasurer, Ms Abigail Rubaba Gariba as Women’s Commissioner, Mr Godwin Ngan as Financial Secretary, Mr Isaac Forson as Organising Secretary, and Ms Antionette Bassaw as Secretary.

The ceremony formed part of efforts to restore continuity and stability within the graduate student body after months of disagreements and challenges surrounding the electoral process.
Delivering the address on behalf of the outgoing administration, the leadership acknowledged the difficult period the Association had gone through and noted that the transition process required dedication, consultation, and cooperation among stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and successful outcome.
The outgoing administration further expressed appreciation to members of the Election Commission, delegates, and graduate students for their patience, support, and commitment throughout the transition period.
Administering the oath of office, the Dean of Graduate School, Prof. Roland Kabange officially inducted the newly elected executives into office and charged them to uphold the values and vision of the Association.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Mr Joseph Oppong Boateng, expressed gratitude to graduate students for the confidence reposed in his leadership. He pledged to promote academic excellence, student welfare, professional development, transparency, and stronger collaboration between students and university management.
He further called for unity among graduate students and urged the newly elected executives to see their positions as an opportunity for service and impact rather than titles.
The outgoing administration, in its remarks, expressed appreciation to the graduate student body and university authorities for their support during their tenure. They also encouraged the new executives to build upon the existing foundation and continue initiatives that would positively impact graduate students.
The event featured the presentation of executive reports, formal handing-over of documents and symbols of office to officially usher in the new administration of GRASAG-KsTU.
