WFVC Delegation Visits KsTU to Strengthen Educational Collaboration
A high-powered delegation from Weifang Vocational College (WFVC) in China, led by the Vice President, Mr. Fu Yiming, has paid a working visit to Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) to further strengthen the collaborative relationship between the two institutions.
Welcoming the delegation to KsTU, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, expressed gratitude for their visit, acknowledging the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions. "Your resolve to come and see what KsTU is doing is commendable, and it reflects our shared commitment to fostering strong international partnerships," Prof. Dwomoh noted.
KsTU and WFVC are currently partners in the Future Africa-China-Africa Applied Talents Joint Training Project. This initiative enables students from KsTU to undergo two years of training at WFVC in China before returning to Ghana to graduate. The partnership has significantly enhanced school-level exchanges, improved the quality of vocational education, and deepened cultural and academic ties between Ghana and China.
During his remarks, Prof. Dwomoh reaffirmed KsTU's unwavering commitment to the partnership, highlighting its potential to foster innovation and sustainability in global education. He emphasised the importance of collaborative programmes, including joint educational projects, teacher training initiatives, and cooperative research endeavours. "Together, we can create innovative and sustainable solutions to address global challenges while equipping our students and faculty with the skills and knowledge needed for the future," he said.
Speaking on behalf of WFVC, Mr. Fu Yiming praised the partnership as a model of international cooperation in vocational education. He described WFVC as a high-level vocational college known for its exceptional teaching resources and innovative programmes.
Mr. Fu Yiming also reflected on the longstanding friendship between Ghana and China, established in the 1960s which has resulted in fruitful collaborations, particularly in the are of education. "The deepening cultural and academic exchanges between the youth of both nations are testaments to this enduring relationship," he stated.
Highlighting some joint programmes, Mr. Fu mentioned the Future of Africa TVET Cooperation Programme, the Chinese Bridge Programme, and the Chinese + Vocational Skills teaching resource construction project. These initiatives have not only promoted people-to-people exchanges but also, empowered the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
During the meeting, academic discussions were held between the WFVC team and the various Deans of KsTU, focusing on expanding the scope of the partnership. A presentation was done to showcase the achievements of KsTU students currently undergoing training in China, affirming the positive impact of the collaboration on student performance and global exposure.
