AMALITECH-KSTU

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) and AmaliTech, a global IT firm, have recently solidified their collaboration through the signing of a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership aims to equip students with essential IT and digital skills, fostering sustainable employment opportunities on an international scale.

The team from AmaliTech Ghana paid a courtesy visit to Kumasi Technical University to present the MoU formally and discuss its implementation. The Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, Ing. Professor Osei-Wusu Achaw, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and highlighted the importance of academia and industry joining hands to provide specialized IT-focused training for the next generation. He emphasized the significance of exchanging expertise between the university and the industry, which would enable the development of competent IT specialists capable of handling complex technological solutions in the modern world.

Ing. Prof. Osei-Wusu further explained that the MoU aligns perfectly with KsTU's vision of becoming a world-class institution that offers exceptional hands-on training and support systems.

On the other hand, AmaliTech's Director of Operations, Mr. Matthew Opoku Darkwa, provided details regarding the company's operations since its start in Ghana in 2019. The three main areas of focus for AmaliTech, a young business processing organization (BPO), are employment, training, and recruitment. According to Mr. Darkwa, AmaliTech primarily hires graduates with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) backgrounds and then gives them three to six months of intensive training after that. The graduates are then provided with work prospects in the European market after completing their training.

To support the collaboration, AmaliTech has committed to recruiting KsTU students for internships and National Service programs and ultimately permanent employment after their National Service. These will enhance the teaching and learning experience for KsTU students participating in the program, preparing them to excel in the digital space.

The Industrial Liaison Office played a significant role in facilitating the negotiation and drafting of the MoU. Mrs. Rita Gyawu, the Industrial Liaison Officer, revealed that by the alignment of their goals, the university-initiated contact with AmaliTech, which ultimately led to a successful partnership.

The collaboration seeks to provide a platform for students to explore innovative ideas through technology research and to bolster the capabilities of Ghanaian students in the digital space, enabling them to create cutting-edge applications and digital solutions that have a real impact on the job market.

With this forward-thinking collaboration between Kumasi Technical University and AmaliTech, students in Ghana will be better equipped to embrace the ever-evolving landscape of technology and secure sustainable employment opportunities on a global scale. As the world continues to embrace digital transformation, partnerships like these serve as a shining example of how academia and industry can work hand in hand to shape a bright future for aspiring IT professionals and create positive change in society.
