KsTU Welcomes 10,667 Fresh Students at 33rd Matriculation Ceremony
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) officially welcomed 10,667 newly admitted students into its community during its 33rd Matriculation Ceremony held on Friday, 21st February 2025, at the University’s Sports Complex and the Adako Jachie Campus. The ceremony which is an annual academic tradition, marks the formal induction of fresh students into the university.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh warmly welcomed the students and congratulated them on securing admission into the Ghana’s leading technical university,
Prof. Dwomoh emphasised the significance of the matriculation oath, which he described as a public demonstration of the contract between the students and the University. He said it is a binding contract which requires adherence to KsTU’s rules and regulations. “Breaking this oath can jeopardize your academic journey at KsTU,” he warned, directing students to the Students’ Handbook for guidance. He further advised against examination malpractices, stressing that examinations are at the core of academic activities at KsTU and violation of any of the examination rules could lead to dismissal.

Of the 12,930 applicants for the 2024/2025 academic year, 10,667 secured admission, comprising 6,946 males (65.2%) and 3,721 females (34.8%). The cohort includes 10,339 undergraduates, 259 postgraduates, and 69 international students.
For the first time, one of the three sessions of the ceremony was held at the budding Adako Jachie Campus. The Campus now houses three faculties: Built and Natural Environment, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, and Creative Arts and Technology.
The Vice-Chancellor also advised students to maintain high academic standards and develop a disciplined study routine. He encouraged them to take advantage of the resources in the University such as the Dean of Students’ Affairs Office, the Chaplaincy, the Sports Section, and the Guidance and Counselling Centre to enhance their academic and personal growth.

Prof. Dwomoh also cautioned against the pitfalls of social media, describing it as a “hydra-headed monster” capable of spreading misinformation. He urged students to filter content critically and avoid peer-driven vices like alcoholism, indecent dressing, and unbrided sexual life. “Your time here is a phase of brilliant beginning—stay focused, build networks, and shun cutting corners,” he advised.
The matriculation oath was administered by the Deputy Registrar, Dr. Jenkins Asaah, officially inducting the students as junior members of the KsTU community. The ceremony which was mainly attended by the Deans of the various faculties and other key officials of the University served as a moment of reflection for the students as they embarked on their academic journey at KsTU.
