The Vice-Chancellor Takes Action With CCTV Installation at the University

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has taken a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of its students, staff, and visitors with the installation of 65 CCTV cameras across its campus. The inauguration of these cameras, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw, and the university's management, showcases their commitment to curbing security issues and creating a secure environment for the entire university community. The deployment of this surveillance system, coupled with the construction of a modern Security strong room, is set to revolutionize the university's security infrastructure.

The Introduction of CCTV cameras at KsTU brings forth numerous benefits that contribute to the safety and security of the university community. The visible presence of CCTV cameras acts as a strong deterrent against criminal activities. Knowing that they are being monitored, potential wrongdoers are less likely to engage in unlawful behavior on campus. This serves as an important preventive measure, ensuring a safer environment for all.

The comprehensive coverage of the CCTV cameras across the campus enables security officials to monitor activities in real-time. In the unfortunate event of an incident, the recorded footage from the CCTV cameras becomes a valuable resource for gathering evidence and intelligence.

The strong room serves as a command center for the surveillance system, allowing security officials to coordinate their efforts effectively. The ability to play back video recordings aids in the collection of evidence, identification of patterns, and detection of any potential security vulnerabilities. Through this centralized approach, the university's security team can maintain a proactive stance against security threats.

This initiative demonstrates the institution's commitment to the safety and security of its students, staff, and visitors. The benefits of this surveillance system are manifold, including deterrence, prompt response, evidence gathering, and continuous monitoring. The university's proactive approach to leveraging technology to enhance security measures will undoubtedly contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for the entire university community.

With the Vice-Chancellor and the management's dedication to curbing security issues, KsTU is taking a crucial step toward fostering an atmosphere that enables students to focus on their academic pursuits and ensures the well-being of all individuals on campus. The investment in CCTV surveillance reflects the university's commitment to maintaining a secure and conducive learning and working environment, instilling confidence and peace of mind within the university community.
