The Office Of The Dean Of Students Organises A Workshop For Hall Masters/Hall Tutors And Porters
The Office of the Dean of Students has organised a workshop for Hall Masters, Senior Hall Tutors, Hall Tutors and Porters. The workshop which took place at the Great Hall was aimed at creating a platform to discuss issues about the management of halls of residence in the University and also acquire relevant knowledge in managing students in our various Halls, and also enhance the skills and competencies of the Porters and Hall masters.
Opening the programme, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Mike A. Acheampong called on the participants to use modern ways in managing the new crop of students admitted to the University which will then help develop and grow the Institutional System. He urged the participants to take advantage of the workshop and make the best out of it, he later thanked the management for this initiative and hopes it continue.
Dr. Felix Engmann the Dean of students’ informed participants that the training was organised purposely for them to acquire knowledge and equip them with skills to perform their duties at their maximum best.
Hall management plays an integral role in the management of a University, he encouraged participants to freely engage resource persons to make halls of residence conducive for students and learning.
Participants at the workshop were taken through a series of topics including how to conduct themselves while on duty, values they were to exhibit on and off duty, law and security of students in the residence among others.
The resource person, Mr. Abraham Kofi Oduro led the discussion on the practical ways to acquire security tips to manage the halls/hostels. He took participants through ways of developing a working plan of effective management of the halls and its residence. He entreated them to manage students well to keep the best image of the university out there.
