KsTU Celebrates International Students Day

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) marked its International Students Day celebration held at the University’s Council Chamber. The event, organised by the Office of International Affairs and Institutional Linkages (IAIL), brought together international students of KsTU from 13 countries across Africa to foster cultural awareness, community building, and networking opportunities.
In her address, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. (Mrs.) Abena Agyeiwaa Obiri-Yeboah, encouraged the international students to avoid any attitude of alienation and estrangement despite their diverse nationalities. She lauded their decision to study in Ghana. Prof. Obiri-Yeboah urged the students to form meaningful connections with their Ghanaian counterparts to enhance their academic and professional pursuits.
"Your choice to study here adds a rich international perspective to our university community," she said. "Take your friendships seriously and bring more friends from your home countries to study at KsTU."
The event allowed the University’s management to engage with the students, addressing their challenges and discussing the way forward. Prof. Obiri-Yeboah assured the students that their concerns would be addressed promptly.
The Deputy Director of IAIL, Prof. Addo Koranteng, reiterated that the Office would continue to collaborate with the International Students Association to develop improved plans for the wellbeing of foreign students at KsTU and assured the students that all their challenges would be seriously considered, especially, those that bother on academic work and accommodation.
The celebration highlighted the cultural diversity within the student body, with students from Burkina Faso (13 students), Equatorial Guinea (9 students), Cameroon (4 students), Gambia (4 students), Congo (3 students), Gabon (2 students), Nigeria (2 students), Cote D'Ivoire (2 students), Guinea-Bissau (1 student), Chad (1 student), Togo (2 students), Mali (1 student), and Guinea Conakry (4 students) sharing their experiences at KsTU.
Ing. Prof. (Mrs.) Abena Agyeiwaa Obiri-Yeboah and the entire management team extended a warm welcome to all international students, reaffirming the University’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
The International Students Day celebration at KsTU underscored the importance of unity and cultural exchange, reinforcing the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse and dynamic academic community.
