KsTU Graduate School Successfully Conducts 2026 Postgraduate Thesis Oral Examinations
The Graduate School of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) on Friday, July 24, 2026, successfully conducted its Postgraduate Thesis Oral Examinations, providing master's candidates with the opportunity to defend their research before panels of distinguished internal and external examiners.
The examinations, which commenced promptly at 8:00 a.m., were held concurrently at three venues on campus: the JICA Centre (Panel 1), MTECH Hall 2 (Panel 2), and the Autotronic Laboratory (Panel 3). The exercise formed a critical component of the University's postgraduate assessment process, allowing candidates to demonstrate the originality, relevance and academic rigor of their research.
The oral examinations brought together experienced academics and industry experts from Kumasi Technical University and several higher education institutions across Ghana, including Cape Coast Technical University, Sunyani Technical University, Ho Technical University, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University for Development Studies (UDS), Accra Technical University (ATU), Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU), the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED), CSIR-Kumasi, and Koforidua Technical University (KTU), among others. Their participation ensured a transparent, objective and robust assessment of the candidates' research work.
At Panel One, hosted at the JICA Centre, proceedings were coordinated by the Graduate School Programmes Coordinator, Dr. Kwame Owusu Sarpong, who welcomed participants and introduced the Chairman, Professor Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Rahaman, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology. The panel examined research presentations from candidates drawn from the Departments of Construction Technology and Quantity Surveying, Management Studies, Chemical Engineering, Marketing, and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
Panel Two, held at MTECH Hall 2 and chaired by Professor Prince Appiah Owusu of the Department of Oil and Gas, assessed candidates from the Department of Accounting and Accounting Information Systems (AAIS) as well as the Department of Management Studies. The session featured constructive discussions and insightful observations from both internal and external examiners, aimed at strengthening the quality and impact of the research undertaken.
Meanwhile, Panel Three convened at the Autotronic Laboratory under the chairmanship of Professor Prince Owusu-Ansah, Head of the Department of Automotive and Agricultural Mechanisation Engineering. Candidates from the Departments of Accounting and Accounting Information Systems, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and Construction Technology and Quantity Surveying presented their theses before the examination panel.
Throughout the day, candidates responded confidently to questions on their research methodology, findings, recommendations and the practical implications of their work. The examination panels commended the candidates for addressing contemporary challenges through research while providing valuable recommendations to further improve the quality of their theses before final submission.
By maintaining rigorous academic standards and engaging experienced scholars from across the country's tertiary education sector, the Graduate School continues to produce highly skilled graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to academia, industry and national development.
