Programme Aim
The aim of the MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management is to train, develop and produce advanced procurement and supply chain management professionals equipped with innovative, technology-driven skills to enhance industrial efficiency and promote sustainable growth in Ghana's industrial sector. It provides a sound foundation for future career and educational opportunities. The Programme offers a unique combination of theory and practice to ensure a solid theoretical basis and tools readily employable in Ghana and
globally.
Objectives
The objectives of this programme are to:
- Teach advanced theoretical and practical concepts in procurement and supply chain management, which will be anchored on strong, sustainable, and competitively advantageous skills and competencies.
- Train prospective students to acquire advanced critical and analytical skills in innovation driven procurement and supply chain management.
- Equip students with professional and ethical principles for the effective and efficient management of corporate procurement and supply chains.
- Develop capacities of students in handling advanced research in their specialised area.
- Provide avenues for knowledge transfer in the tertiary education environment as well as prepare students for terminal degrees (PhD).
- Train prospective students to acquire advanced critical and analytical skills in innovation driven procurement and supply chain management.
Students’ Admission Requirements, Progression and Graduation
The MSc Procurement and Supply Chain Management programme is a one (1) year programme, and to gain admission, the applicant must satisfy the following minimum entry requirements:
Ghanaian Applicants
This MSc will consider holders of the following qualifications for admission:
- A good first degree (at least a Second Class Lower) in business and managementrelated disciplines, from a recognised tertiary institution.
- First degree in any discipline with appreciable work experience in supply chain, logistics or transport management (at least 2 years).
- Third Class Applicants with Bachelor of Technology/Bachelor Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management or related discipline with 3 or more years work experience in relevant role may be considered for admission after passing a selected interview.
- First degree in any discipline with appreciable work experience in supply chain, logistics or transport management (at least 2 years).
Applicants with Professional Qualifications
- CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in procurement and supply (MCIPS).
- CILT International Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport
Note: Professional qualifications will undergo an evaluation process to be conducted by GTEC to determine their equivalence.
Foreign Applicants
Foreign applicants from accredited/recognized institutions would be considered for admission in consultation with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for the
determination of qualifications for equivalences.
Requirement for Graduation
To graduate in the programme, a student is required to have:
- Taken a total of 45 credits (33 credits in taught courses and 12 credits in research
- Passed all required courses (specified for his/her programme of study).
- Carried out and submitted a thesis in a topical area relating to procurement and supply chain management and passed.
- Achieved the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 1.5
- Satisfied any other requirements of the Department and Board of Examiners of the faculty.
- Passed all required courses (specified for his/her programme of study).
