 Vice-Chancellor Engages Newly Promoted Staff

The Vice-Chancellor together with the Registrar of Kumasi Technical University has engaged all the newly promoted staff of the University as a gesture of encouragement and to congratulate them on their promotions.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor Ing. Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw expressed his excitement for all the categories of staff who have been promoted. He indicated that such a situation obviously, cements the University’s enviable record as being one of the institutions endowed with high quality human resources in the country.

 KsTU currently has 14 professors out of which 2 are of full status. The University has a total of 112 holders of PhD as well as 112 Senior Lecturers. This makes the Technical University one of the best institutions that anyone who seeks top-notch technical education and training at that level will want to attend.

 The Vice-Chancellor further admonished the newly promoted staff that promotion in any facet of life is a call to higher duty and additional responsibility, therefore, all of them should ensure that their output of work justifies their new status. He particularly praised the teaching staff who have been promoted to full professorial level stressing that it was an achievement worth celebrating especially, as such a feat was occurring during his tenure.

The Registrar (Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye), on his part, encouraged and tasked the newly promoted staff to justify the confidence reposed in them. He added that each and everyone must ensure that their output of work reflects their new positions.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted staff, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh one of the two Full Professors, was full of praise for Senior Management of the University especially, the Vice-Chancellor who ensured that the process went on smoothly. On behalf of the entire group, he accepted the challenge and assured that the newly promoted staff will be mindful of all their actions and inactions. He also used the opportunity to encourage his colleagues to ensure that they do not rest on their oars but should continue working hard.

A total of 22 members staff comprising both teaching and non-teaching were promoted.  These include two (2) Full Professors, four (4) Associate Professors, eight (8) Senior Lecturers, one (1) Senior Librarian, two (2) Lecturers and one (1) Assistant Lecturer. Promotions in the non-teaching category also include two (2) Deputy Registrars, one (1) ICT Officer and one (1) Senior Assistant Registrar.
