KsTU Secures GH₵2,062,500 GSDF Grant to Enhance Research and Innovation

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has reached another milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence and innovation by securing a Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF) grant worth GH₵2,062,500 ($129,000). This remarkable achievement is credited to the combined efforts of Prof. Smart Sarpong, the Director of the Institute of Research Innovation and Development (IRID), and Dr. Michael Yeboah, the Head of the Center for Research Development and Technology Incubation (CRDTI).

The contract for the grant was officially signed and handed over to the Management, represented by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Abena Obiri-Yeboah, and the Director of Finance, Mr. Isaac Owusu Ansah. This funding is expected to greatly enhance the University’s capacity to undertake groundbreaking research projects and bolster its technical education capabilities.

Speaking on this achievement, Prof. Smart Sarpong expressed his gratitude for the support and highlighted the strategic importance of the grant in expanding KsTU’s research initiatives. 

Dr. Michael Yeboah also emphasized the potential this grant holds for fostering collaboration between academia and industry. 

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Abena Obiri-Yeboah, commended the efforts of the IRID team for their dedication and foresight in securing the grant. 

The entire Kumasi Technical University community is proud of this achievement and anticipates the significant developments that will arise from the support of the GSDF grant. This funding marks a pivotal step in the university's ongoing mission to lead the future of research and innovation.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
