Celebrating Creativity – Fashion Xpression 2022

One programme that Fashion students, enthusiasts and the University community mark on their calendar of events is the week-long Fashion Expression programme which is climaxed with a fashion show.

This year’s Fashion Expression week was no different as it lived up to its billing with students showcasing impressive original designs. Among the designs were casual attire, vogue and work clothes as well as attire to be worn by formal and informal workers.

At the launch of the Fashion Expression week, the Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University Prof. Osei-Wusu Akyaw expressed his excitement about the fact that students are given the opportunity to practicalise their taught theories and hence, commended the Faculty for ensuring that the programme takes place. He particularly praised the Dean of the Faculty and the Head of Department (HoD) for the commitment and zeal they have exhibited towards the organisation of the programme. He believed that such opportunities would open the students up to the idea of entrepreneurship after completion of their programmes.

Observing the exhibited works at the various stance, the Vice-Chancellor was full of praise for the exquisite designs the students had created. Among the dignitaries who witnessed the opening ceremony included the Dean of Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology (Dr. Michael Obeng Nyarko), HoD of the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles (Dr. Thomas Obeng Asare Studies and lecturers from the Faculty. Among the exhibited works included a PhD work from Mr. Solomon Marfo a lecturer in the Department.
