Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) welcomed the esteemed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Agyaba Jewellery, Dr. Agyaba Kwame Afriyie, during his courtesy visit to the university's Adako Jachie campus. The purpose of this visit was to foster collaboration and strengthen the relationship between academia and the jewel-making industry. Dr Agyaba unveiled plans to establish a state-of-the-art gold workshop within the campus, aiming to train KsTU students in practical jewelry making. This partnership marks a significant step towards bridging the gap between theory and industry practice.
As part of the collaboration, Agyaba Jewellery will establish a cutting-edge gold workshop at the Adako Jachie campus. This workshop will serve as a dedicated space where students can gain hands-on experience in the art of jewel making. Equipped with modern tools and machinery, the gold workshop will provide an immersive learning environment, enabling students to explore their creativity and refine their craftsmanship under the guidance of industry experts.
Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye, the Registrar of KsTU, expressed his optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the numerous benefits it will bring to the university. He stated, "This collaboration with Agyaba Jewellery is a remarkable opportunity for our students to acquire practical skills and industry exposure.
Recognizing the importance of suitable infrastructure, the Deputy Director of Works, Ing. Nana Yaa Adusa-Poku suggested an ideal location within the campus to house the workshop. This seamless coordination between the university's management and Agyaba Jewellery showcases both parties' commitment to ensuring this collaboration's success.
Dr. Agyaba Kwame Afriyie. was welcomed by the Grant officer Dr. Anomah Sampson and the Deputy Grants officer, Dr. Stephen Okyere in conjunction with the Registrar and other representatives of KsTU, including the Dean of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, Dr. Charles Akomea Bonsu, and Prof. Engr. Peter Kessels Dadzie, the Dean of the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment. Their presence exemplified the commitment of the university to fostering partnerships and promoting interdisciplinary collaborations.
