Kumasi Technical University Forges Academic Collaboration with London South Bank University

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has made a significant stride towards international collaboration, marking a pivotal moment in its pursuit of academic excellence and global engagement. The institution recently hosted a delegation from London South Bank University (LSBU), led by Prof. Chris Harty, Dean of Built Environment and Architecture as well as Prof. George Ofori, Director of Research at the School of the Built Environment, to explore avenues for cooperation and academic exchange.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, the Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, emphasised the commitment of both Institutions to fostering meaningful partnership in education, research, and student exchange programmes. Prof. Dwomoh highlighted the importance of leveraging collective strengths to address common challenges and advance educational opportunities for the benefit of both institutions.
The discussions between KsTU and LSBU revolved around identifying areas of shared interest and potential collaboration, with a particular focus on the School of Built Environment and Architecture, LSBU. Prof. Harty provided insights into LSBU's vision and expressed eagerness to collaborate with KsTU and other African institutions to enhance the capacity of black communities through education and research initiatives.
In his remarks, Prof. Dwomoh expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, citing the alignment of goals between KsTU and LSBU in providing quality education to empower individuals to navigate and lead within their communities effectively. He highlighted KsTU's existing strengths and affirmed the Institution's readiness to engage in collaborative ventures that would benefit both staff and students.
Central to the discussions was the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the partnership and establish a framework for future cooperation. LSBU demonstrated its readiness to facilitate staff training and welcomed the prospect of hosting KsTU personnel in their specialised areas of expertise.
The collaborative efforts between KsTU and LSBU hold the promise of enriching academic experiences, fostering cross-cultural exchange, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in critical fields.
