Seven Final-Year Students Triumph in Postgraduate Thesis Defense at Graduate School Oral Examination

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) held its annual Postgraduate Thesis Oral Examination at the JICA Conference Centre on 3rd November 2023. The remarkable event underscored the outstanding research and academic brilliance of seven final-year students pursuing their Masters degrees at KsTU.

In line with the rigorous academic standards of Kumasi Technical University, the Graduate School organised a viva-voce for these seven Master of Technology (MTech) students. The programme required the students to present their thesis which were meticulously examined by their dedicated supervisors and esteemed external examiners. 

The event featured a distinguished panel of supervisors and external examiners who provided invaluable insights and critiques. These individuals played a vital role in assessing the students' work, ensuring that it met the high academic standards set by KsTU.

The seven students presented their research to a panel of internal and external examiners, who were highly impressed with the quality of work. The students' research covered a wide range of topics, including machine learning in healthcare, geospatial analysis of maternal mortality, stock market prediction, financial inclusion and poverty reduction, sustainable concrete mixes, construction project performance as well as wastewater treatment.

The Dean of Graduate School, Prof. Roland S. Kabange, expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the students and commended them for their hard work and dedication. He also noted that the high number of postgraduate thesis oral examinations reflects the growing research culture at KsTU.

KsTU congratulates the seven students who successfully defended their theses. The students were as follows:

  • Brandon Akendoba (MTech, Applied Statistics - Financial Statistics)
  • Richard Agyeman-Donkor (MTech, Applied Statistics - Financial Statistics)
  • Fredrick Somi (MTech, Construction Technology)
  • William Appiah Yeboah (MTech, Construction Technology)
  • Deborah Achia Addo (MTech, Chemical Engineering)

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
