KsTU Strengthens Erasmus+ Collaboration with Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development

In a remarkable step towards fostering international cooperation and expanding academic horizons, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) had the distinct honour of hosting Dr. Astrid Schilling, representing the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde) from Germany. Dr. Schilling's visit aimed at deepening the already existing Erasmus+ collaboration between these two prestigious institutions and explore potential avenues for future partnerships. Dr. Schilling's visit commenced with a warm courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh as well as various Deans and Directors of the University.

 

The Vice- Chancellor graciously welcomed the delegation from Eberswalde University, setting the stage for a constructive dialogue. The primary focus of the meeting was to reinforce the strong collaboration between Eberswalde University and KsTU in the Erasmus+ Programme. Both institutions are committed to enhancing academic exchanges, particularly through staff and students exchange programmes.

Dr. Astrid Schilling shared valuable insights into Eberswalde University's areas of expertise and provided a brief history of the Institution. She highlighted the research output of HNEE and detailed the various activities and programmes offered at the University. Furthermore, she discussed Eberswalde University's ongoing collaborations with sister universities in Ghana and Europe, underscoring the potential for cross-border cooperation. 

In addition to Dr. Schilling's informative presentation, Prof. Sarfo Mensah, the Director of International Affairs, and Institutional Linkages (IAIL) at KsTU, provided a brief history of KsTU, giving an overview of its achievements and its commitment to international engagements. Following the meeting which took place at the Council Chamber of the University, Dr. Schilling embarked on a comprehensive campus tour, allowing her to witness KsTU's academic and research facilities firsthand.

This visit is expected to lay the foundation for enhanced academic and cultural exchanges, enriching the experiences of both staff and students of KsTU and Eberswalde University.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
