KsTU Dominates Webometrics Rankings, Named Top Technical University Once Again

In a groundbreaking achievement, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has once again maintained its position as the leading technical university in Ghana for the third consecutive year. The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, known as the Ranking Web of Universities, has just released its July 2023 World University Rankings Edition, placing KsTU at an impressive 8th position among all Ghanaian universities and first among the technical universities, both public and private.

The recent rankings reaffirm KsTU's unparalleled dedication to excellence in technical education and research. With an unwavering commitment to producing top-tier graduates and pioneering impactful research, the university has carved a niche for itself among the elite institutions globally.

A total of 88 Ghanaian tertiary institutions earned a place on the latest rankings, with the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and the University of Cape Coast securing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, respectively.

Outshining its counterparts, KsTU's consistently high ranking underscores its remarkable performance across various indicators. The ranking methodology evaluates universities based on their Presence (public knowledge shared), Impact (web-contents impact), Openness (top-cited researchers), and Excellence (top-cited papers). KsTU's substantial presence in the digital realm, coupled with its significant web content impact, showcases the university's commitment to disseminating knowledge and fostering academic collaboration.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, an initiative of the prestigious Cybermetrics Lab under the ‘Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas’ (CSIC) in Spain, is a globally recognized ranking system. It evaluates universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account not only the volume of web content but also the visibility and impact of these web publications through external links.

Kumasi Technical University is determined to maintain its position as a beacon of innovation and academic excellence in Ghana and beyond. As the university continues to make strides in technical education and research, it reaffirms its role as a pioneer in shaping the future of technical education.
