Kumasi Technical University Swears-In an Interim Management Committee of SRC
An Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Student Representative Council (SRC) of Kumasi Technical University has been sworn into office to carry out the administration of the Council till elections are held.
Due to an ongoing court case regarding an injunction placed on the SRC executives elections held in 2021, this IMC has been appointed to act as interim leaders. This decision is dictated by Article 27 clause 1(b) of the SRC’s Constitution which states that “there shall be a five-member Interim Management Committee set up by the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with Students Affairs Committee of the University to manage the affairs of the SRC where due to circumstances beyond the control of the University, including but not limited to, a national disaster or an act of God, the SRC is unable to hold its elections to usher in new executives”.
The swearing-in was at a brief ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the University. The ceremony took place in the presence of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw and the members of Senior Management.
In a brief address, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the newly sworn-in five member-committee for offering themselves for the task. He urged them to show leadership and make students the centre of all their activities. He urged them to be receptive to good ideas and be tolerant.
Prof. Achaw also assured the Committee of Senior Management’s readiness to work with them because they are a key part of the University. He further urged them to go through the right channels to have their concerns addressed.
Other members of Senior Management also took turns to advise the IMC of the SRC and urged them to leave a good legacy for posterity.
The sworn-in IMC is made up of Okyere Boateng Emmanuel as the Chairman, Appiah-Nti Irene as the Secretary while Essel Eric Nyarko, Eric Dapaa and Angela Obeng Agyemang are the other members of the Committee.
The Registrar, Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy as he swore in the IMC.
