Dr. Adjei-Twum donates books to KsTU

Dr. Anthony Adjei-Twum a lecturer of the Estate Management Department has donated seventeen varieties of books on Facilities Management to Kumasi Technical University.

Speaking at the event which took place at the Council Chamber in August 2017,                        Dr Twum indicated that he was partially sponsored by the University to study the Facilities Management programme for his PhD at Universiti Tecknologi of Malaysia which was a three- and- half year programme. Dr. Adjei-Twum further intimated that the gesture was a means of showing appreciation for the kind gesture from the University during his training. According to him, he was first sponsored by the Institution to do the Masters degree in the United Kingdom and enjoyed partial sponsorship for the PhD in Malaysia.

He was of the conviction that people in the field of Estate Management can equally have access to those books to help manage the University’s facilities.

He disclosed his faculty’s intention to run Facilities Management programme in the Institution. Dr. Adjei-Twum hinted that Facilities Management as academic programme was not run in Ghana and that, he was using the occasion to create awareness about the programme.

Both soft and hard copies of his PhD thesis were given to the University’s Library to help educate the University Community about Facilities Management.

The Interim Vice-Chancellor, Prof Asiamah Yeboah received the books on behalf of the Institution and stated that he was grateful for the appreciation shown to the University by that singular act of book donation. Professor Asiamah Yeboah challenged the Deans, Directors and Heads of Department gathered to emulate the shining example of Dr. Adjei-Twum. He further gave the assurance that the books will be kept well and used for its intended purpose. He further confirmed that the KsTU will be the first to run Facilities Management programme at HND, undergraduate and postgraduate.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
