SIEMENS Technology (South Africa) Visits KsTU
A delegation from SIEMENS Technology South Africa has paid a working visit to KsTU to explore possible areas of collaboration. As part of its corporate social responsibility, SIEMENS Technology South Africa aims at collaborating with the University to churn out well trained engineers. According to them, they are interested in supporting projects in the Gas and the Power sectors.
The leader of the delegation and Corporate Responsibility Manager, Emelia Molefe, in her address emphasised that SIEMENS was ready to support the Institution especially, the Faculty of Engineering, by giving out equipment based on SIEMENS technology. She further stressed that there would be opportunities for staff development in addition to giving awards to best students. The partnership would also include an Ambassador programme, where the chosen Ambassador would liaise between the Institution and SIEMENS to know the Institution’s needs.
According to her, the company was meticulous in its selection of universities for its programmes and therefore, has laid down criteria for all participating institutions. The criteria according to her include the profile of the institution, the management structures as well as the wish list of the institution. She further emphasized that the Company’s focus would be on Electrical, Mechanical and Mechatronics departments.
In his response, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Mike Agbesi Acheampong assured the delegation that the University was ready to meet all the requirements in order to secure the partnership. He intimated that the Faculty was consulting with other industry players to partner with them as part of the conversion requirements.
