Department Of Automotive And Agricultural Mechanisation Engineering

Established in 2020, the Automotive and Agricultural Mechanization Engineering Department (AAMED) of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was carved out of the existing Mechanical Engineering Department.
AAMED has been created to address the skill gap in automotive and agricultural establishments as well as the need to mechanise the agricultural sector of the economy. This will be done through training students, mechanics and artisans in the formal and informal sectors to acquire employable skills using innovative techniques and equipment in their specific areas.The department boasts of highly trained staff as well as labs and workshops to facilitate practical hands-on training for students.
Currently, programmes run by the AAME department are approved by the academic board and the governing council of the University and accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NTCE).
Programmes currently being run by the department include;

  • Diploma in Automobile Engineering
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Automobile Engineering (Regular and Weekends)
  • A four (4) year Batchelor of Technology in Automobile Engineering
  • A four (4) year Batchelor of Technology in Agricultural Mechanisation Engineering (Regular Session)

To train and equip engineers in automotive and agricultural mechanisation who can advance science and technology via effective instruction, learning, research, and hands-on, real-world experience.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
