Team From Vives University Visit KsTU To Initiate Collaborative Discussion

On the 20th of April 2023, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) had the pleasure of hosting a three-member delegation from VIVES University of Applied Sciences in Belgium. The delegation included Dr. Johan Cottyn, Ms. Joke Calcoen, and Mr. Tom Vanm Benerdeen.

Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, gave the purpose of the gathering. He thanked the delegation from VIVES for the visit and emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions for academic excellence and innovation.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and explore potential collaborations in research, education, and other areas. The delegation from VIVES University met with the Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments at the council chamber of the Univrsity. The meeting was an opportunity for both institutions to share their areas of expertise and discuss potential areas of collaboration.

During the meeting, the delegation from VIVES University made informative presentations on various topics related to their areas of expertise. Dr. Johan Cottyn presented on "Technology for Sustainable Development", highlighting the importance of technology in promoting sustainable development. He discussed the various ways in which technology can be used to promote sustainable development, including renewable energy, waste management, and sustainable agriculture. 

Ms. Joke Calcoen's presentation focused on "Entrepreneurship and Innovation". She emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in promoting economic growth and development. She shared various examples of successful entrepreneurship ventures and highlighted the need for universities to promote entrepreneurship among their students.

Finally, Mr. Tom Vanm Benerdeen's presentation focused on "Internationalization of Higher Education". He discussed the various benefits of internationalization, including exposure to different cultures, exchange of knowledge, and networking opportunities. He emphasized the need for universities to promote internationalization and exchange programs among their students and faculty.

The meeting sparked discussions on potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions. Both institutions expressed their commitment to working together to promote academic excellence and innovation. It is hoped that this visit will lead to the development of joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programs, and other academic initiatives.

In conclusion, the visit by the delegation from VIVES University of Applied Sciences to KsTU was a great opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and explore potential collaborations in research, education, and other areas. The presentations made by the delegation were informative and provided valuable insights into their areas of expertise. It is expected that this visit will lead to more fruitful collaborations in the future. 

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
