Representatives of The Us Embassy Pay a Courtesy Call On the Vice-Chancellor

Ms. Laneice Brooker, Chief of Cultural Affairs at the US Embassy in Ghana and her group paid a visit to the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).

The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Ing Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw and some members of the University Management welcomed Ms. Laneice, who was accompanied by some members of staff from the US embassy and a private educational consultant, Mrs. Marilyn Owusu.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Ms. Brooker stated that the visit was part of their tour of the Ashanti region to encourage students on how to pursue opportunities and access graduate programmes in the United States and to discuss ways to expand the ties between US universities and KsTU.

According to her, four thousand two hundred (4,200) Ghanaian students are enrolled in postgraduate programmes at various universities in the US. She further said that her organisation would take advantage of the opportunity to educate KsTU students on the American educational system, opportunities available and the application procedure.

According to the VC, KsTU is a leading Technical University in Ghana that focuses on high-quality teaching and learning with skills and entrepreneurship training. He thanked the delegation for the visit and promised to offer his support.  He assured the delegates that KsTU would continue to liaise with them and even do more by way of contributing its quota to the development of Ghana. The KsTU-US partnership  has supported about six students already which has enhanced the career progression of several faculty members and students. The VC was hopeful that the US embassy in Ghana and KsTU will continue to explore mutually beneficial opportunities to further deepen the already existing good relationship between the two entities.
