KsTU Shines Bright at 2025 GHATUSA Games in Cape Coast

The 2025 Ghana Technical University Sports Association (GHATUSA) games came to a thrilling climax on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in their usual demonstration of resilience, sportsmanship and unity, finished 5th on the official medal table a commendable feat in a highly competitive field.

Held from April 4 to 12, 2025 and hosted by Cape Coast Technical University, this third edition of the GHATUSA games brought together over 1,000 athletes from the ten Public Technical Universities across Ghana. The event featured eight key sporting disciplines. These were handball, football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and athletics.

Team KsTU arrived in Cape Coast on April 5, 2025 with the determination to leave a mark and truly, they did just that. From powerful throws to relentless sprints and strategic plays on the court, KsTU athletes proved their mettle throughout the tournament.

In Athletics, Team KsTU bagged an impressive 9 medals where the Team won Gold in 4×400m (men), 4×200m (men), discus (women); silver in 200m (men), 400m (men), javelin (women) and bronze in 4×100m (women), 1600m relay (men), javelin (women)

In tennis, the women’s team also showed class, securing Gold in women’s singles and Silver in women’s doubles bringing KsTU's total medal haul to 12 (4 Gold, 4 Silver, 4 Bronze).

 

The multi-talented athlete Ella Nyaaba emerged as one of the outstanding performers, representing the University in multiple sports including handball, badminton, volleyball, and shot put. She won Gold in discus and Silver in javelin a true embodiment of versatility and determination.

The KsTU campus spirit was so evident, with students and staff showing massive support from afar. The morale team brought electrifying energy to Cape Coast, ensuring that the KsTU brand stood tall, not just in competition but also in presence.

 

Despite missing out on the ultimate title, Team KsTU has every reason to be proud. The kind of enthusiasm and teamwork displayed throughout the tournament reflect the core values of the University.

Looking ahead, Sunyani Technical University (STU) will host the next edition of the GHATUSA games.

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
