KsTU Plays Host to Visiting Scholar from Durban University of Technology
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) warmly received a visiting scholar Dr. Mrs. Modupe Cecilia Mewomi from the Durban University of Technology (DUT), South Africa, for a five-day academic visit to the Department of Building Technology. The visit is set to strengthen the academic ties between the two institutions and also aims at exploring avenues for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Dr. Modupe's visit to KsTU was marked by series of insightful discussions with Management of the University on enhancing visibility and fostering partnerships. During her interaction with the Pro Vice-Chancellor Ing. Prof. Mrs. Abena Obiri-Yeboah, Dr. Modupe emphasised the importance of building collaborative networks across nations to strengthen educational institutions.
Acknowledging the involvement of KsTU’s lecturers in various projects, Dr. Modupe highlighted the potential for skills and knowledge exchange between KsTU and DUT. She proposed initiatives to enhance international admissions and facilitate research collaborations as well as offering support to KsTU staff pursuing PhDs, grant writing and papers publications.
Ing. Prof. Abena Obiri-Yeboah expressed gratitude to Dr. Modupe for her visit and willingness to share expertise with KsTU. She emphasised the prospects of mutually beneficial partnership between the two universities for academic advancement and research excellence.
As part of her itinerary, Dr. Modupe is scheduled to engage with students of KsTU from the Department of Building Technology to discuss the opportunities available at Durban University of Technology. This interactive session will provide students with valuable insights into academic programmes, research prospects and international collaborations offered by DUT.
This visit sets the stage for future partnerships that will benefit students, staff and the academic communities of both KsTU and DUT.
