KsTU Donates Foot-Operated-Hand-Washing-Machines
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has in its bid to support government’s efforts towards preventing the continuous spread of the Coronavirus Pandemic has manufactured “Foot-Operated-Handwashing-Machines” which has been donated some selected Government Institutions.
It is worth mentioning that the University was among the first to innovate such a machine and after its acceptance by the general public thus has produced on a large scale for donation. The machine makes use of the foot in its operations and thus eliminate the likelihood of contaminating one’s hand in the process.
The donation exercise which was to a number of governmental institutions including Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the Regional Police Headquarters, had the Registrar of the University Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye leading the team. Mr. Boakye, in donating the “Foot-Operated-Handwashing-Machines” opined that the University had the technical expertise and called on government to support for mass production of the machines. He further stressed that these donations were from the University’s own initiative and resources.
Mr. Akuamoah Boateng, the Metropolitan Cordinating Director who received the machine on behalf of Metropolitan Chief Executive, expressed his gratitude to the University for undertaking such a gesture. He added that the virus was still in our midst and hence the machine will be put to good use. He again mentioned that the Assembly would collaborate with the University to utilize the technical expertise available in the University.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. David Agyemang Adjem, who received the donation on behalf of the Regional Command was delighted for such a gesture. He mentioned that policing is a shared responsibility and thus in undertaking such a gesture KsTU had greatly helped in this responsibility. He further thanked the University and called for moreof such support.
