The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) for the 2023/2024 academic year has made a significant contribution to the Institution by donating 600 mono desks and a 62-seater bus. This generous donation is intended to enhance the University's teaching and learning environment and to facilitate the movement of students.

The mono desks were presented to Ing. Prof. Abena Obiri-Yeboah, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, who received them on behalf of the University Management. In her address, Prof. Obiri-Yeboah expressed her profound gratitude to the SRC for their "thoughtful gift." She highlighted the importance of such contributions, noting that as a technical university, KsTU occasionally faces challenges in acquiring adequate facilities to meet its demands. The donation, she said, is a valuable support towards the University's determination of becoming self-sufficient.

"Generous gestures like this from the SRC are essential for the University's progress," Prof. Obiri-Yeboah remarked. She commended the SRC for the bus donation, emphasising its significance in easing the transportation challenges faced by non-resident students. She also called on all students to take personal responsibility in protecting the University's facilities to prevent unnecessary cost that may be incurred on replacements or repairs due to damage.

Prof. Obiri-Yeboah assured the students that the University is in advanced stages of acquiring more desks for the lecture rooms and promised that any challenges related to desk shortages would soon be resolved. She also emphasised the importance of proper maintenance culture. She requested the SRC's assistance in ensuring that students handle the University’s property with care.

Prof. Thomas Adomah Worae, the Dean of Student Affairs, commended the current SRC leadership for their initiative and for continuing projects started by their predecessors. He stressed that this continuity is crucial for the University's development and encouraged future SRC leaders to follow the example set by their current peers.

The incumbent SRC President, Mr. Evans Osei Kankam, commended his colleagues and alumni for their dedication to contributing towards the purchase of the bus. He acknowledged that the immediate past SRC administration initiated the process of procuring the desks and chairs and assured the University Management of their commitment to supporting the University's progress in any way possible.

This donation marks a significant step in addressing some of the infrastructural challenges at KsTU and highlights the SRC's active role in ensuring that students feel comfortable on campus.
