KsTU Welcomes Delegation from Gambia Public Procurement Authority

A four-member delegation from the Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) paid an important working visit to Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) to explore opportunities for collaboration and establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will be geared towards enhancing training and research capabilities of the two entities. The delegation was led by Mr. Phoday M. Jaitch, Director General of the GPPA and it included Mr. Ibraima Sanyang, (Director of Procurement Policy and Operation), Mrs. Jainaba Jallow, (Senior Lecturer and Trainer) and Mr. Maurice J. Gomez III, (Head of Institute GPPI).
The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, the Vice-Chancellor of KsTU. Prof. Dwomoh expressed his delight at the prospect of partnering with the GPPA, highlighting the potential benefits for both institutions. "We are excited about this partnership with the Gambia Public Procurement Authority. This MoU is crucial for regulating our collaboration and was a strategic decision. We are committed to seeing its implementation and believe it will transform both institutions through research and innovation," Prof. Dwomoh stated. He emphasised the existing strong bond between Ghana and Gambia, anticipating that the partnership would lead to joint projects, academic programmes, funding opportunities, publications, and workshops.
Mr. Phoday M. Jaitch, in his brief remarks, provided an overview of the GPPA and explained the purpose of their visit. "We are here to explore collaboration opportunities with KsTU’s faculty to advance research and academic prospects through programme collaborations and procurement processes. Our research indicated that KsTU is one of the best institutions in the country, making it an ideal partner for us," he said.
The meetings and discussions between KsTU and GPPA were facilitated by Dr. Kwame Owusu Sarpong, Head of the Department of Procurement and Supply Chain and Vice Dean of the Graduate School who also served as the crucial link between the two institutions. The delegation engaged in productive meetings with the Vice-Chancellor and Senior Management of KsTU, culminating in the formal signing of the MoU. This strategic partnership aims to establish a cooperative framework for developing and delivering exchange training programmes, among other collaborative initiatives.
In addition to the formal meetings, the GPPA delegation toured the beautiful campus of KsTU including the various laboratories and departments. They also explored the city of Kumasi, gaining a deeper understanding of the local culture and environment.
The visit among other things will strengthen the relationship between the Gambia Public Procurement Authority and Kumasi Technical University. Both institutions look forward to a fruitful partnership that will drive innovation, enhance academic excellence, and contribute to the development of both Ghana and Gambia.
