The Human Resource Unit of Kumasi Technical University organised an interactive session with officials from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). The event which was held on campus was highly attended by staff members who were eager to deepen their understanding of the pension scheme and tax-related matters.

Dr. Jenkins Asaah, the then Acting Registrar, set the tone for the session by articulating its purpose. He emphasised the importance of such interactions in ensuring that staff members are well-informed about the pension scheme and its related issues including the calculation of monthly benefits, updating personal records and understanding the conditions for contributions.

Mr. Henry Morro, the Asafo Branch Manager of SSNIT, Asafo led the staff through a detailed presentation on SSNIT operations and benefits. He provided valuable insights into how staff members can project and calculate their benefits upon retirement from active service. His session was highly interactive, with participants engaging actively and seeking clarifications on various aspects of the pension scheme.

Representatives from the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr. Prince Henry Gyang, Chief Revenue Officer, and Mr. Mark Agyapong Fosu also shared critical updates with participants. They highlighted the GRA's ongoing efforts to leverage technology to minimise human interaction and reduce instances of compromise, among workers. The officials underscored the GRA's core mandate of mobilising revenue to foster the country's socio-economic development.

During their presentation, they detailed several initiatives and measures being rolled out by the GRA, including the implementation of an Electronic Tax Revenue Certificate and Electronic VAT Invoicing. These initiatives, currently in their pilot phase, are designed to help achieve the authority's revenue targets.

They encouraged staff to ensure full compliance with these new measures, emphasising that the success of these initiatives is crucial for the country's growth and development.

The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, where participants had the opportunity to asked questions and shared their experiences regarding contributions made to the pension scheme. The segment provided further clarity and practical insights, making the session informative and engaging.

Kumasi Technical University remains committed to providing its staff with the necessary resources and information to navigate their professional and personal financial planning effectively. The interaction with SSNIT and GRA officials is part of the University's broader initiative to enhance staff welfare and development.
