KsTU Hosts INPHB Students for Language and Cultural Immersion Programme

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) recently hosted a 26-member delegation from the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny (INPHB), Côte d’Ivoire, as part of a two-week English Language and Cultural Immersion Programme. This annual initiative, which ended on January 22, 2025, provides an opportunity for INPHB students to improve their English proficiency while gaining insights into Ghanaian culture, particularly the rich Asante heritage.

During their stay, the students explored notable cultural sites in Kumasi to deepen their understanding of the Asante culture and familiarise themselves with the vibrant city. The programme ended in a farewell ceremony at the University’s Council Chamber which was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh.

In his address, Prof. Dwomoh commended the students for their active participation, emphasising the importance of such initiatives in fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange. He highlighted how proficiency in the French language, coupled with their newly acquired English language skills, positions them for global opportunities and offers a competitive edge in their professional pursuits.

As a token of appreciation and recognition of their commitment, each student received a certificate during the ceremony. These certificates do not only symbolise their successful completion of the programme but also indicated their integration into the vibrant academic community of KsTU.

Prof. Dwomoh encouraged the students to view their English language skills as a foundation for greater achievements and urged them to leverage their newfound linguistic abilities to make meaningful contributions in Côte d’Ivoire and beyond.

The farewell ceremony also featured remarks from the delegation's supervisor from INPHB, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception and support extended to them by KsTU. He lauded the significant improvement in the students’ English language proficiency, attributing it to the dedication and expertise of the instructors.

This year’s programme has undoubtedly reinforced the strong ties between the two institutions and showcased KsTU’s dedication to nurturing global partnerships while celebrating cultural diversity.
