Kumasi Technical University Swears in New SRC Executives for 2024/2025 Academic Year
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) witnessed a significant transition in leadership as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for the 2024/2025 academic year was inaugurated during a formal handing-over ceremony held at the SRC Conference Hall. The event, which celebrated the electoral success of the new executives, began with a warm welcome address from the Dean of Students. He commended the outgoing executives for their dedicated service and urged the SRC and the Local National Union of Ghana Students (LNUGS) to consider electoral reforms to enhance future processes.
Outgoing SRC President, Mr. Evans Osei Kankam, reflected on a fruitful tenure, highlighting substantial contributions such as renovations and donations that have enriched the University community. Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him, he assured the new team of his continued support.
The incoming SRC President, Mr. Lameck Sarfo, was sworn into office with his executive team. In his inaugural address, Sarfo emphasised the importance of "all-inclusive governance" and pledged to be accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all students. He called for unity and collaboration among the student body and the university administration.
The new SRC’s parliamentary council also held its first sitting, signaling the start of their work. Sarfo concluded his address by reaffirming the SRC’s commitment to serving the student body and making KsTU a more inclusive and empowering environment.
The handover ceremony was a significant milestone in KsTU and a testament to the University’s commitment to student engagement and empowerment.
